On Tour with the Projection: The Rumor Around Dre and Snoop
The Wall Street Journal reported tour plans with the Tupac projection. Dre showed interest, but waved it off a few days later.
“This is just the beginning,” Digital Domain chief creative officer Ed Ulbrich told the Wall Street Journal. On April 17, 2012, citing sources, the paper reported that the teams of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were discussing a joint tour on which the Tupac projection would perform regularly.
From Stadium to Arena
Two options were reportedly under discussion: a stadium tour packaged with guests such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and Wiz Khalifa, or a smaller arena tour. The tour was said to be “likely, but not certain.” Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal relayed the report.
First Interest, Then the Denial
Two days later, according to TMZ, Dre confirmed his interest without citing specifics, and announced that the projection would also be shown during the second Coachella weekend. Whether anything more would come of it was settled on April 22: Dre denied it.
