A Week for 'Pac's Life': Photo Exhibition, Coat Drive, and Release Party
From November 11, 2006, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation celebrated the new album with an Atlanta photo show, a coat drive and an art contest.
Ten days before the release of “Pac’s Life”, a celebratory week began in Atlanta. On November 11, 2006, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation opened the exhibition “All Eyez on Me: Hip-Hop’s Legendary Performers and Photographers” at the Vaknin Gallery. Featured were works by prominent hip-hop photographers, including Danny Clinch, Janette Beckman, Estevan Oriol, Raymond Boyd, and George DuBose.
Coats for Tickets
The week was intended to let fans hear the album in advance and remember Tupac. The schedule included a listening party on November 14 at the gallery and a coat drive on November 15 and 17 at the art center in Stone Mountain. Anyone who turned in a warm winter coat received two tickets to the release party. An art contest for youth aged 13 to 17 followed on November 20, whose work was to be exhibited at the center in December. On the evening of November 21, the day of release, the release party took place there.
The Video for the Title Track
According to the report, the video for the title track featuring T.I. and Ashanti had been shot one week earlier at the art center. According to the foundation, more than 600 students had benefited from its programs by that time. Shortly thereafter, the album brought Tupac back into the top 10.
