Report: Federal Prosecutors Re-examine 1994 Robbery
On the ninth anniversary of his death in 2005, AllHipHop cited anonymous sources that New York federal prosecutors reopened the Quad Studios robbery.
On September 13, 2005, the ninth anniversary of his death, AllHipHop published a report based solely on unnamed sources. Anonymous investigators reportedly told the outlet that the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York had reopened the November 1994 Quad Studios robbery. They were reportedly examining whether the gunfire in the lobby was connected to Tupac’s death in Las Vegas in 1996. There was no confirmation: citing an ongoing investigation, the office declined to comment.
One Name at the Center
According to the source, interest focused primarily on James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, then the manager of The Game. Tupac had publicly accused him after the robbery, including in “Against All Odds”. Rosemond denied this to AllHipHop. He stated that he supported any investigation into both cases and would even pay for it himself so that the truth would come to light. Tupac had been a good friend, he said, and he did not want to be anyone’s scapegoat.
What Came of It
Whether this investigation actually took place in 2005 is not corroborated by any other source. The known new leads regarding the robbery only emerged in later years, such as the 2011 confession of Dexter Isaac.
