First Makaveli Branded Fashion Show on New Year's Day in Los Angeles
On New Year's Day 2005, Afeni Shakur's label Makaveli Branded held its first fashion show. Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys was also on the runway.
The new year 2005 began for Tupac’s family on the runway. Makaveli Branded, the clothing line founded by his mother Afeni Shakur, presented its first standalone fashion show on New Year’s Day at the Century Club in Los Angeles. The event also celebrated the album “Loyal to the Game”, which had recently climbed to the top of the charts.
Bushwick Bill as Guest Model
AllHipHop announced Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys as a prominent guest model. He recounted that Treach of Naughty by Nature had introduced him to Tupac shortly after the latter finished shooting “Juice”. Tupac told him that he loved the Geto Boys. For Bushwick Bill, the line represented more than clothing: for old friends, it served as a reminder of Tupac’s words that the clothes were “an extension of the man”.
According to the report, the guest list included LisaRaye, Jon B., the Outlawz, Warren G, and Cedric the Entertainer. Lil’ E, the son of Eazy-E, planned to debut a new single there that was set to feature Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. DJs spun tracks in Tupac’s honor.
