Tupac and Biggie on the Runway at New York Fashion Week
At New York Fashion Week in September 2002, a model wore a corset featuring the faces of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.
Tupac has arrived on the runway, together with his former rival. As AllHipHop reported on September 27, 2002, designer David Dalrymple showcased his new designs for the House of Field label the previous week at Spring Fashion Week in New York.
A Corset with Two Faces
A model in a metallic shimmering corset caused a stir. Featured on it: the faces of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.. Patricia Field, who owned the fashion line, said that one needed attitude, otherwise one would get run over.
Hip-Hop as a Central Motif
Hip-hop ran through the entire show. R&B singer Mya walked the runway in a green and yellow bodysuit and a miniskirt, while rapper Eve closed the show wearing a blonde wig in a one-shoulder dress with lace. How Tupac’s image has shaped fashion and merchandising since then is covered under Merch and Fashion.
