Film Rights Sold: Cathy Scott's Books Slated to Become "Record Wars"
In October 2000, reporter Cathy Scott sold the film rights to her books on the Tupac and Biggie cases. "Record Wars" was planned.
The cases of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. are heading to theaters. As AllHipHop reported on October 15, 2000, reporter Cathy Scott sold the film rights to her two books to producers Jon Sheinberg and Beaux Carson. A single feature film titled “Record Wars” was to be developed from The Killing of Tupac Shakur and the new volume The Murder of Biggie Smalls.
Scott had covered both crimes as a newspaper reporter. Her book on Tupac was already available, while the volume on Biggie had just been published in October 2000. Sheinberg had previously produced Flipper and McHale’s Navy, among other films.
Those involved did not announce a start date for filming or a theatrical release in October 2000. How the investigation in the Tupac case continued is shown on the page covering the investigation.
