"Judgement Day": A Musical About Tupac Set to Premiere in Harlem
A lookalike in the title role, words from his interviews: in fall 1998, a musical about Tupac was set to open at the National Black Theatre in Harlem.
Two years after his death, Tupac’s life was set to hit the stage. MTV News reported on August 25, 1998, that the play Judgement Day and the Search for the Invisible Man would premiere on September 25 at the National Black Theatre in Harlem. The organizers hoped to take it on tour afterwards.
A Lookalike as Tupac
The musical was based on interviews Tupac had given over the course of his career. The lead role was taken by Dirk Storm, an actor described by MTV as a Tupac lookalike.
A later stage production featuring Tupac’s own songs is presented on the page Holler If Ya Hear Me (Musical).
